Rich Man on his deathbed . . ..

A rich, dying man, laid on his deathbed, requested to be joined at his bedside by his vicar, his bank manager and his lawyer.

He instructed them that he wished to be buried, when he finally passed away, along with all his money. He gave each of them fifty thousand pounds and asked them to throw the money on top of his coffin, in the burial plot, when he died.

A couple of days later the old man passed away and was buried within the week. At the wake, the three men were chatting and the vicar was suddenly overcome with guilt. He confessed to the other two that he had only thrown only half of the money onto the coffin, as the church needed urgent repairs to the roof.

The bank manager thought, ‘What the heck if we are having a confession,’ and told the other two men that he had also only thrown half the money in, as the ‘Credit Crunch’ was hitting hard and he needed some money for the bank to stop it going bust.

The lawyer jumped up and said to the other two, ‘I think that is a shameful act on both of you. I threw a cheque in for the full amount!”

Son: "Daddy, may I ask you a

question"

Daddy: "Yeah sure, what it is?"

Son: "Dad, how much do you make an hour"

Daddy: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"

Son: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"

Daddy: "I make Rs. 500 an hour"

"Oh", the little boy replied, with his head down.

Looking up, he said, "Dad, may I please borrow Rs. 300?"

The father was furious,"if the only reason you asked that is so you can
borrow some money to buy a silly toy or other nonsense, then march yourself to
your room and go to bed. Think why you are being so selfish. I work hard
everyday for such this childish behavior"

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's
questions.

How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:

"May be there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs. 300 and
he really didn't ask for money very often!"

The man went to the door of little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier", said the
man, "It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's
the Rs.300 you asked for"

The little boy sat straight up, smiling "oh thank you dad!" He
yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled some crippled up notes.

The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father.

"Why do you want money if you already had some?" the father grumbled.

"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.

"Daddy I have Rs. 500 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?

Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you"

MORAL OF THE STORY

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.

We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time
with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us
in a matter of days.

But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of
their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our
family....

10 minutes later, the User is still adamant that he is right. The tech is
frustrated and fed up.

Tech: Sorry, Sir. We don't normally tell our customers this, but there is an
undocumented DOS command that will fix the problem.

User: I knew it!

Tech: Just add the line "LOAD NOSMOKE.COM" at the end of the CONFIG.SYS.
Letme know how it goes.

10 minutes later.

User: It didn't work. The power supply is still smoking.

Tech: Well, what version of DOS are you using?

User: MS-DOS 6.22.

Tech: That's your problem there. That version of DOS didn't come with NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft and ask them for a patch that will give you the
file. Let me know how it goes.

1 hour later.

User: I need a new power supply.

Tech: How did you come to that conclusion?

User: Well, I rang Microsoft and told him about what you said, and he started asking questions about the make of power supply.

Tech: Then what did he say?

User: He told me that my power supply isn't compatible with NOSMOKE.

I used to hate salesmen...

I'm sure a lot of you do as well. I've told myself that I will never go into something such as sales, but will work hard to be a professional so I won't have to be a salesman. I was wrong...

Whatever job you end up doing, you need to sell. Be it your products, your skills, your expertise.

I came across a very interesting article quite some time back when I was in KL. It is from the book 'Tipping Point' by Malcolm Gladwell. I know...its a long read. Trust me, you'll learn something at the end.

A large group of students were recruited for what they were told was a market research study by a company headset and and told that the company wanted to test to see how well they worked when the listener was in motion - dancing up and down, say, or moving his or her head. All of the students listened to songs by Linda Ronstandt and the Eagles, and then heard a radio editorial arguing that tuition at their university should be raised from its present level of $587 to $750.

A third were told that while they listened to the taped radio editorial they should nod their heads vigorously up and down. The next third were told to shake their heads from side to side. The final third were the control group. They were told to keep their heads still.

When they were finished, all the students were given a short questionnaire, asking them questions about the quality of the songs and the effect of the shaking. Slipped in at the end was the question the experimenters really wanted an answer to: “What do you feel would be an appropriate dollar amount for undergraduates tuition per year?”

The answers to that question are difficult to believe. The students who kept their heads still were unmoved by the editorial. The tuition amount that they guessed was appropriate was $582 - or just about where tuition was already. Those who shook their heads from side to side as they listened to the editorial - even though they thought they were simply testing headset quality - strongly disagreed with the proposed increase. They wanted tuition to fall on average to $467 a year. Those who were told to nod their heads up and down, meanwhile, found the editorial very persuasive. They wanted tuition to rise, on average, to $646. The simple act of moving their heads up and down, ostensibly for another reason entirely - was sufficient to cause them to recommend a policy that would take money out of their pockets.

SO, did you all learn anything? Well, if you're going into a place and trying to resist from buying something (new camera gears,etc), either don't move your head at all or keep shaking it.

BUT, if you are the salesman, your goal should be to get the potential customer to nod his head as much as possible as you are giving your sales pitch.

A Highway through a Building

Gate Tower Building is a 16-story office building in Fukushima-ku, Osaka , Japan . And what makes it notable is the highway that passes through the 5th-7th floors of this building. The highway is part of the Hanshin Expressway, a network (239.3 km) of expressways surrounding Osaka , Kobe and Kyoto , Japan . The Gate Tower Building is Japan 's first building to have a highway pass through it. And it had been nicknamed "beehive" referring to its appearance as a "bustling place". The Umeda Exit of the Ikeda Route of the Hanshin Expressway system passes through this building. The expressway is the tenant of these floors. The elevator doesn't stop on floor 5th-7th, floor 4 being followed by floor 8. These floors consist of elevators, stairways, machinery and other stuff. The highway passes through the building as a bridge, held up by supports next to the building making no contact with the building itself. The building has a double core construction, with a circular cross section and special care is taken by providing surrounded structure to the highway to protect the building from noise and vibration. Generally expressways are built underground, and passing through a building is an extremely rare occasion. It dates back to 1983, when the redevelopment of this area was decided upon, "building permits were refused because the highway was already being planned to be built over this land. The property rights' holders refused to give up, and negotiated with the Hanshin Expressway corporation for approximately 5 years to reach the current solution."

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.
�
What is the correct way of eating fruits?
�
IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
�
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
�
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
�
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....
�
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. He is a Malayali working for a multinational company in
Mumbai.

Not well educated and he is working as a peon there.

Whenever Kuttappan hears somebody talk he will come in
between them and saying

that I know that very well I know him very well like that.

One day Kuttappan's Boss a foreign educated person
& a North Indian was talking

something about Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Kuttappan was passing thru that way,suddenly he came in
between saying that

'oh Arnee..... he is my best friend'.

Kuttapan's boss laughed at him saying that how can u be
a friend of

Arnold Schwarzenegger? ? you are only a peon living in India
...

Kuttappan said if u wont believe its your problem I cant
help you. Ok.

The Manager said I am going on a trip to US next week you
come as my assistant

and we will go to Arnold 's house and see what happens.

Kuttappan agreed with a smile.

A week after they landed in US.

First they went to New York.Arnold was there in NY.

And They went to meet Arnold.

Seeing Kuttappan Arnold ran towards Kuttappan and hugged
him

Kuttappan went with Arnold to have some coffee.

Boss was stunned.

When Kuttappan came back the boss told him that

At Clinton 's home Clinton also did the same as
Schwarzenegger

asking that where were you my friend for long time?

Kuttappan went to have tea with Clinton while the boss was
sitting out side the gate

When Kuttappan came back boss said I have to go to Vatican

to get blessings from Pope John Paul,so u come with me.

At the Vatican crowd from all over the world

is waiting to see Pope John Paul.
Kuttappan and his boss are also there.

Boss asked Kuttappan, do you know Pope John Paul.??
Kuttappan said 'Y Not......??? ?'

Boss told Kuttappan that he will not believe this.

Kuttappan asked boss to wait for some time and went inside
the crowd.

After 15 minutes Kuttappan came on the balcony along with
Pope John Paul.

Pope John Paul was holding Kuttappan's hand.

Kuttappan's boss became unconscious and fell down.

When Kuttappan came back his boss was on a stretcher

by his side nurses and paramedics

Kuttappan asked Sir what happened.??

Then boss told; Kuttappaaa.. u know Arnold I believe,

u know Clinton I believe and

u know Pope John Paul I believe that toooo...

BUT U KNOW WHEN U CAME WITH POPE AT THE BALCONY

One truck driver was doing his usual delivery to IMH (Institute of mental health).
He discovered a flat tyre when he was about to go home. He jacked up the truck and took the flat tyre down.
When he was about to fix the spare tyre, he accidentally dropped all the bolts into the drain.. As he can't fish the bolts out, he started to panic.
One patient happened to walk past and asked the driver what happened.
The driver thought to himself, since there's nothing much he can do; he told the patient the whole incident.
The patient laughed at him said "can't even fix such a simple problem.... no wonder you are destined to be a truck driver..."
Here's what you can do, take one bolt each from the other 3 tyres and fix it onto this tyre. Then drive to the nearest workshop and replace the missing ones, easy as that" The driver was very impressed and asked "You're so smart but why are you here at the IMH?"
Patient replied: "Hello, I stay here because I'm crazy....... not STUPID!"

Over the weekend, I filled up my fuel tank, and I thought petrol has become really expensive after the recent price hike. But then I compared it with other common liquids and did some quick calculations, and I felt a little better.

About month ago there was a similar documentary on Animal Planet about a friendship between helpless young antelope and old hungry lion. The old lion was following a newly born antelope for more than a week to protect it while it finds its herd. Lion wasnâ€™t eating nothing for a days but newer tried to eat that helpless creature.
This amazing story will show you how even animals have a compassion and even they are not just instinctive killers as we believed they are.
 
Here you can see a similar case from Masai Mara, Kenya where a few of guepards found young impala that was obviously lost its herd. As you can see, they didn't eat it they rather tried to help it to find its relatives.

This hilarious article was written by an Expert from Baan, Netherlands
who spent two years in Hyderabad.

For the benefit of every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting India and daring
to drive on Indian roads, I am offering a few hints for survival. They
are applicable to every place in India except Bihar, where life
outside a vehicle is only marginally safer.

Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you
do your best, and leave the results to your insurance company. The
hints are as follows:

Do we drive on the left or right of the road?

The answer is "both". Basically you start on the left of the road,
unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is
also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in
chess. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and
proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional
fatality. Most drivers don't drive, but just aim their vehicles in the
intended direction. Don't you get discouraged or underestimate
yourself except for a belief in reincarnation, the other drivers are
not in any better position.

Don't stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to
cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the
back. Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when
traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some
minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but
then, let us not talk ill of the dead.

Blowing your horn is not a sign of protest as in some countries. We
horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust
(two brisk blasts), or, just mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of
the bazaar.

Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them
during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister's motorcade, or
waiting for the rainwaters to recede when over ground traffic meets
underground drainage.

Occasionally you might see what looks like a UFO with blinking colored
lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated
bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrims go at
breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty,
often meeting with success.

Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi): The result of a collision between a
rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an
external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and
creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or
passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified
fare. After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and
packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery
are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are
pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions
with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course,
the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn
Newton's laws of motion en route to school. Auto-rickshaw drivers
follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur, and are licensed
to irritate.

Mopeds: The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like
an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and
travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough
for a ride, the moped drivers tend to drive in the middle of the road;
they would rather drive under heavier vehicles instead of around them
and are often "mopped" off the tarmac.

Leaning Tower of Passes: Most bus passengers are given free passes and
during rush hours, there is absolute mayhem. There are passengers
hanging off other passengers, who in turn hang off the railings and
the overloaded bus leans dangerously, defying laws of gravity but
obeying laws of surface tension. As drivers get paid for overload (so
many Rupees per kg of passenger), no questions are ever asked. Steer
clear of these buses by a width of three passengers.

One-way Street: These boards are put up by traffic people to add jest
in their otherwise drab lives. Don't stick to the literal meaning and
proceed in one direction. In metaphysical terms, it means that you
cannot proceed in two directions at once. So drive, as you like, in
reverse throughout, if you are the fussy type. Least I sound
hypercritical; I must add a positive point also. Rash and fast driving
in residential areas has been prevented by providing a "speed
breaker"; two for each house.

This mound, incidentally, covers the water and drainage pipes for that
residence and is left untarred for easy identification by the
corporation authorities, should they want to recover the pipe for
year-end accounting.

Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience (for
those with the mental makeup of Chenghis Khan). In a way, it is like
playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the
drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns
out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just
pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon
passes. Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do
not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in
the truck is the driver, and with the peg of illicit arrack (alcohol)
he has had at the last stop, his total cerebral functions add up to
little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India,
and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful
beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super
motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually
the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to
investigate. You may prove your point posthumously. Of course, all
this occurs at night, on the trunk roads. During the daytime, trucks
are more visible, except that the drivers will never show any Signal.
(And you must watch for the absent signals; they are the greater
threat). Only, you will often observe that the cleaner who sits next
to the driver, will project his hand and wave hysterically.

This is definitely not to be construed as a signal for a left turn.
The waving is just a statement of physical relief on a hot day.
If, after all this, you still want to drive in India, have your
lessons between 8 pm and 11 am-when the police have gone home and The
citizen is then free to enjoy the 'FREEDOM OF SPEED' enshrined in our
constitution.

Having said all this, isn't it true that the accident rate and related
deaths are less in India compared to US or other countries!!? ?

What I learnt from Rocket Singh: Review

Initial Synopsis:

Harpreet Singh is a B.Com graduate who wanted to make it big in sales. He wants to become a salesman so badly and joins AYS Computers. Things start to screw up when the honest Harpreet Singh refuses to give up his ethics to close a deal.

And finally he finds out that his company has been selling computers at really high margins and sucked in after sales support. He then starts out on his own parallel company by using company resources and convinces his colleagues to join him and so goes the movie.

The Blog Post

I do not really go to much movies, but Rocket Singh was one movie I had been wanting to go since I saw its trailer. Why? Because it is about sales! Sales, Marketing, Entrepreneurship movies always grab my attention. And yesterday when I finally went to the movie, it was an amazing experience. But when walking out of the movie hall, our Sujith was like “I don’t really like the movie, I cannot digest some parts of it….”.

So, this post hopes to do justice to those Sujiths out there who missed some keypoints of the movie and what I noticed personally from Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year movie.

Bootstrap your business: When Harpreet Singh Bedi started off with his Rocket Sales Corporation, he did not go out and build a flashy office for his company. He instead kept his day job and used his companies resources (telephone, furniture, computers, electricity and all that) to build his company. Though trying this can get you sued for breach of contract, embezzlement, fraud, dishonesty and everything else, it is always a wise idea to minimize expenses with your startup. So, keep those bigass oak tables and revolving chair off your mind and focus on your startup.
Startups can change things big time: Being a startup, agility is your best friend. You do not have to wait for clearances, you can take decisions instantly, you can rebuild and reorganize overnight and rectify mistakes within days unlike bigger companies who work under six sigma pressures. So, never be bowed by big competitors in your industry. You can do things better, faster and more creatively than them!
Picking up the right people: Harpreet Singh Bedi just closed a big order due delivery tomorrow. He did not have the people to complete it by due time, what did he do? He picked up his office chai wallah (peon) as a partner to finish it. It is important to know who to entrust what and make sure they enjoy doing it. Otherwise, you are wasting everyone time. Really. Period. So build the right team.
Sales is not the end of the cycle. It is the start. When Rocket Sales Corporation went live, their philosophy was free service any night and any holiday for the whole year. If you run a service or sell a product, the after sales support you provide your clients can either get you more business or screw it up royally. You choose.
Volumes, margins and pricing: One of the most important things I personally tell anyone looking at entrepreneurship is cash flow. For me, it is like the one single thing that will make or break a startup. If you think you can make money off volumes, price your products lower and make sure your margin and sustain your operations. Ensure cash flow to keep your company afloat while you look for that big break.
Exit Strategy. Initially I could not bear the thought of an exit with something I might spend years building with every bit of passion, strength and time I have, but it is important to know when to exit gracefully. You might know many firms where the bosses hang around hogging the management seat while the market needs fresh, innovative and bold thinking. A time will come when you will be obsolete, so prepare for that day.
Branding is not just a logo. So in the movie, our Rocket Sales Corporation reaches great heights with its good pricing and unique service offerings and the AYS computers now take over the company and make it AYS Rocket Sales Corporation puting the AYS badge on the logo. But AYS being a bigger and bloated company fails to deliver on customer expectations of the Rocket Sales Corporation and sales figures start to come down. When take over another firm and its brand, it is important to inherit its philosophy and culture and see how you can make the most out of it.

Bonus Tip: This is not new to those watching Indian films, but it seems somehow in a weird way that it helps your company grow way faster when you have a background score. Anyone noticed this trend yet?

Aquamarine sets sail on her maiden voyage from India

The international luxury liner MV Aquamarine, which is the first cruise ship to homeport in India, was officially flagged off by the Chairman of Cochin Port Trust, Mr N Ramachandran

on its first voyage from Kochi yesterday afternoon. With 670 passengers and 350 crew on board, the Aquamarine set sail for the Maldives for what is expected to be a thrilling trip that will take in a barbecue by the pool, a party on board and various shore activities and excursions on the island.

Secretary of Kerala Tourism, Dr Venu said that cruise holidays is a new product and another exceptional holiday experience in Kerala that will excite Indian travelers.

‘Kerala has been delighting travelers with unique products like houseboats and ayurveda and this latest offering is the ultimate travel experience for those seeking luxury and action’ he added.

The MV Aquamarine is owned by Louis Cruises India, a subsidiary of Louis Cruises - the 5^th largest cruise operator in the world.

Kerala Tourism has tied up with the company to market and promote cruise tourism from Kochi.
